It has been many many years since I last seen Cyril but he always greeted me with a smile, a chat and a few laughs. I will remember him for his kindness and the joy he shared with all who knew him. Ellen, Pamela, Curtis and Leroy: Rose and I offer our deepest condolences to you on Cyril's passing. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and with all of Cyril's family members at this sad and difficult time. As we drove out the beautiful Cape Shore on this mild winter's day, my mind travelled back some 37 years ago when Cyril and I sat in my office and discussed his new assignment as maintenance person for Fatima Central High and St. Jude Elementary. Cyril was the consummate maintenance person. Skilled and competent in all areas, his approach was proactive. When he saw a problem it was dealt with before it became a breakdown. He took ownership of the buildings and premises and treated it as he would his own. It was a lucky day for all concerned when he came on board. But there was another dimension to Cyril that never ceased to amaze me. He had that rare ability to interact , positively, with all the players in the school setting .Whether it was helping a little guy with a knot on his sneaker lace, discussing the Saturday night hockey game with a group of senior students on Monday, morning, a quick run to the store for a canteen item for lunch , helping the kids get their projects set up for the Science Fair - he did it all. You would have trouble fitting it all into a job description but ,nevertheless, it is the stuff that makes a school work and Cyril had that ability - in spades! The teachers looked to Cyril as their "go to" person and he never let them down. And as the school population compressed Cyril was always there to take on new responsibilities and continued to be an integral part of the school's success in dealing with change. His presence was huge, his accomplishments large . He leaves you a legacy of which you can be so proud- and I assure you he will not be forgotten as he rests in peace God bless and take care.

When I heard off Cyril’s passing I felt so much sorrow. Cyril was a kind and generous person who was always there to help. We had many chats in the morning and many good laughs and Pat Callahan would be there too. Cyril loved a good joke, a good prank and a good laugh. Always there to lend his time and talent - he kept the school going with the many projects he took on. His kindness and concern for the students of Fatima was seen and felt by all. No matter what I asked him to do he said yes, and you never had to remind him - it got done. To Ellen, Curtis, Pamela and Leroy, your memories will help you through the difficult days ahead. My heart is breaking after learning today of Cyril's passing. I extend my deepest sympathy and sincere condolences to Ellen, Curtis, Pamela, Leroy, and all of Cyril's family, extended family, and friends. It was a privilege to have worked alongside Cyril, and to see his dedication to his job, but more impressively his dedication to the school community. Each student was treated like his own child; each school event was treated like the most important and special occasion ever; and each staff member was made to feel welcome and appreciated. He made a lasting impression on every person he interacted with and our family is no different. Cyril had a kind heart, a warm smile and he was always willing to help out. Fabian Jr., Mark and Heather have many wonderful memories of Cyril from their days at Fatima Academy whether it was one of the many sporting events, the school concerts and graduations, the breakfast program or Fabian”s favourite, “Cyril”s Workshop.” In Cyril’s own humble and kind way, he taught some very valuable lessons to the many students he dealt with throughout the years. Whether it was making canteen deliveries to the school, setting up for the annual Garden Party or the many political meetings that were held at Fatima, you could depend on Cyril to be there and have things organized and prepared. He always took great pride in his work but was never too busy to share a story and have a laugh. He will be fondly remembered. There is no doubt that Cyril’s greatest legacy is his family who he was so very proud of. To Ellen, Curtis, Pamela, Leroy and to all of Cyril’s family and friends, we would like to offer our deepest condolences on the passing of such a fine man. The memories we all have of Cyril are so numerous and each and everyone of them causes us to smile or laugh. When I came to Fatima in 1993, Cyril was one of the first people I will always remember for his love of “Fatima and his Family”. One of my greatest memories I have of Cyril is when I started the Breakfast program at Fatima. He took on that like his own personal mission. Every morning he would lay out a breakfast buffet and make sure everyone had more than enough to eat. Then the entertainment that went along with that, no student or teacher will ever forget. With his sidekick, Pat Callahan alongside him every morning, we all started the day no doubt, with the most memorable moments. Cyril did everything for everyone. I cannot even begin to start sharing his impact on everyone’s life. But I will be forever indebted to him for the way he helped every child at Fatima, including my own children. Cyril had no favourites. He loved them all. But his greatest love was for his family. He loved you all so much. We’ll always remember Cyril. He left such a heartwarming legacy with his family and I’ll miss him too. Sending love and prayers to you all. Fly high with your other angels my friend. Thank you for so many great memories. Ellen, Curtis, Pamela, Leroy and family, I was so saddened to hear this news today. Cyril has been a part of my life since I began teaching at Fatima Academy in 1993. Over the years he has not only been a colleague but a valued friend. When I became principal in 2010, Cyril was a person I depended on greatly. He took great pride in all things Fatima and went well above what was part of his position of custodian. He was lead on graduation decorating, ran off school card games, took care of the Breakfast Program and canteen, built many items for school, and the list goes on. He was instrumental to our school. He was loved by students and staff and he will be deeply missed. On behalf of myself, Paul, Mollie and Annie, I offer our heartfelt condolences on your great loss. May he rest from his labours for his good deeds go with him. May he rest in peace.
