Jerome will be remembered for his kindness, smile, and love of Irish and Newfoundland music. He had a beautiful singing voice and was a talented writer captioning his love of home in his writing of “My Cape Shore Home.” Jerome loved to stay up on current events, was a history buff, and loved to read about the monarchy. He truly loved musical festivals and gatherings was and he had a very strong connection to faith and church. Over the years, he provided loving care to both of our parents and had a gentle, loving heart. Jerome struggled for years with mental illness and experienced much pain and turmoil which impacted numerous aspects of his life. He is now, in a more peaceful place.
Thank you to all those who have loved and supported Jerome and offered friendship at different points in his life. A special thank you to our cousin Donna Leonard-McGrath who nurtured and loved Jerome during difficult times in his years working and living in Labrador City.
We know he endured significant internal pain, but we want him to be remembered for the kind and caring individual he was, the jokes he made, the songs he sang, and the memories of the festivals and dances where he was so happy. May he find inner peace now in heaven with our dear Dad and with God.
