Obituary of Cyril Joseph Murphy

Passed peacefully at Pleasant View Towers on January 25th, 2025, Cyril Joseph Murphy, aged 73 years, formerly of St. Bride’s, Placentia Bay. Predeceased by his parents, Isabelle and Sylvester Murphy, brothers Harold and Patrick (Susan), and sister, Nora Brennan (Jack, deceased). He leaves to mourn his daughter, Alicia and his son, Stephen. Also mourning his loss are his sisters Maryanne (Harold McGrath, deceased) and Mercedes (Don Ross), as well as several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Cyril worked for the City of St. John’s for 25 years. He enjoyed his work immensely and the camaraderie he had with his co-workers. Cyril’s heart was always in St. Bride’s and he visited ‘home’ at every opportunity. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him. A sincere thank you is extended to the staff at Pleasant View Towers for the kindness, professionalism and care provided to Cyril over the past five years. A special thank you to relatives and friends who provided support and comfort during the past two weeks. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Coombs Funeral Home, Placentia. Visitation to take place on Friday, May 23rd, 2025 at Coombs Funeral Home, Placentia from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Funeral Service to take place in Coombs Memorial Chapel at 1:00 p.m. on May 23rd. Inurnment to follow at Roman Catholic Cemetery, St. Bride's.
