Passed peacefully away on December 2nd, 2025, at the Carbonear General Hospital, Dermot Foley, of St. Bride's, age 78 years. Predeceased by his daughter, Caroline; parents, Charles and Clothilda; brothers, Martin and Aloysius; sisters, Catherine and Susan; his parents-in-law, Violet and Gerard Griffin and sister-in -law, Bridget. Leaving to mourn, is his wife, Margie; daughter, Connie (Alex) and grandchildren, James, Griffin and Andrew; his sisters, Lucy (Bert, deceased), Bernadette (Cecil, deceased), Patrica (Tom, deceased), Mary (Dean, deceased); son-in-law, William Penny; his in-laws, Ann, Mary, Barb, Georgina, Paddy, Phil and Gerard and his special sister-in-law, Gloria and their families along with a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dermot was a hard worker who went to Goose Bay at the young age of 15 years old. He worked until he was 70. He was well known for his knowledge of everyone on the Shore. Whenever a student needed a family tree, they would call him. Dermot loved them asking "who was who". The family would like to thank the Staff at Carbonear General Hospital and to Nurse Vivian Careen for the attentive care of Dermot in his final days. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Coombs Funeral Home, Placentia. Visitation will begin on Sunday, December 7th, 2025 at Sacred Heart Church, St. Bride's at 2:00 p.m. The family will be leaving from the Funeral Home to go to the Church on Sunday at 12:45 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, December 8th at 1:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church, St. Bride's. Inurnment to follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, St. Bride's. Those we love don’t go away, They walk beside us everyday. Unseen, unheard; but, always near. Still loved, still missed, and always near.
