Mary was born on March 22nd, 1942 and was the youngest of 11 children. Growing up in Ship Harbour, her extended family and circle of friends were vast and only continued to grow with each year. Mary was the bedrock of her family and nurtured all with her love and compassion. Her favourite moments were spent with her children, grandchildren and her great grandchildren particularly Hudson.
Mary spent the majority of her years in the cove, with Ben. She loved her home and it was the centerpiece of her life and the lives of her family. There she led a simple yet impactful life, touching the hearts of many. Her greatest pleasure was caring for her family. There was always a seat at her table, and a meal lovingly served. She found peace in a warm cup of tea and a long chat at the kitchen table or on the phone, always there to lend a listening ear and offer guidance and support. Her smile was always bright, her words kind and caring.
If not at home you could surely find Mary at the cabin with Ben, visiting family members family or enjoying a night out at bingo with friends and family. Her quiet grace was part of what defined her, but she was always ready for a good laugh. She will be missed for many things and will last forever in our hearts.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Carbonear and Placentia hospitals, particularly Dr. Dawn Howse for going above and beyond and providing warmth and compassion in her final days.
Mary rejoiced in her relationship with Christ. She will live on through her family, her faith in God brings us peace as she returns to her eternal home in heaven.
