Obituary of Theresa Young

Theresa (Coffey) Young 1950-2023 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful and loving mother, Theresa Anne Young. Mom passed away peacefully April 20,2023 at the Lions Manor in Placentia. Mom was born in Angels Cove to Charles and Margaret Coffey and moved to St.Bride’s when she met and married our father Robert (Bert) Young and had three children, Derek, Roxanne and Robert. Mom worked hard her whole life and wore many hats of distinction during her lifetime. Mom was a daughter; sister, aunt, grandmother, farmer ,fisherwoman, fishplant worker, animal lover and even moved to Alberta to work after our father had passed. Mom was strong and fearless but was also very soft-hearted which she kept hidden as if it was a weakness. Mom loved nature and was always walking and usually accompanied by a dog that I’m sure had to run to keep up with her. Mom is now at peace and free to soar again hopefully in a better place. Mom was predeceased by her husband and our father, Robert(Bert) Young, and numerous family members including her parents Charles & Margaret Coffey; siblings Gerald, Bobby, Raymond, Robert & Chappie. Mom leaves to mourn us her loving children, Roxanne(Mike), Derek (Teri),Robert(Janice) her grandchildren Michael & April Whelan and James Young. Mom also leaves to mourn her sisters Eileen Power, Peggy (Andy) McGrath, Flossie (Gordon) Careen and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A very special thankyou and our endless gratitude to her sister Peggy for her diligent care and visits with our mom ensuring all her needs were met. A very special thankyou to her nephews Charles McGrath and Mark McGrath for whom she had a special place in her heart for there kindness and support. Special thanks to the Lions Manor staff whether it was Nursing, Housekeeping, Dietary, Recreation and any others I may have overlooked for their patience, encouragement and compassion towards mom over the years. Heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff for their care & concern during moms final hours. If anyone is interested in making donations to the SPCA in moms memory in lieu of flowers I am positive she would be grateful. Visitation will take place at Coombs Funeral Home, Placentia on Sunday, April 23, 2023 from 12:00 - 3:00. You mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears. Be happy that we had so many beautiful years I gave to you my love. You can only guess How much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown, But now it’s time I traveled alone. So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must. It’s only for a while that we must part, So bless the memories within your heart. I won’t be far away, for life goes on. So if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can’t see or touch me, I’ll be near. And if you with your heart, You’ll hear all my love around you soft and clear. And then, when you must come this way alone, I’ll greet you with a smile and say Welcome Home.
