Obituary of Mary Murphy (Penney)

December 1st. 1944 - May 28th 2023 Passed away at Placentia Hospital in her 78thyear following a brief but most courageous and hard fought battle with cancer, Mary Bridget Penney, formerly of St. Bride’s, Placentia Bay. Mary is predeceased by her parents, Alice and Herbert Murphy; her grandson Trevor Penney; brothers Johnny and Rupert: sisters Betty, Lizzie, Katie, Sadie and Agatha as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Leaving to mourn her loss are her partner and best friend, Pete Murphy; her loving children; sons Tom (Jodi); Sean (Diana); Bunny (Darlene); daughter Michelle (Eddy); her grandchildren; Nico, Tom Jr. (Lisa), Megan (Cody), Shauntel (Connor), Nathan (Chelsea), Jayden, Olivia and Brady; great grandchildren; Drightan, Bentley, Elsie-Mae and Brooklyn; sisters Anne-Marie, Francina, Barb (Kevin), Theresa (Donald) and brother Joe (Marcella) plus a very large extended family and many friends. A special thank you to the nursing staff at Placentia Hospital who went above and beyond to take care of our mom. Your compassion, kindness and understanding will never be forgotten. Mary’s positive attitude during her battle with cancer was remarkable and a true inspiration. That warrior spirit will live in our hearts forever. Visitation will take place at Coombs Funeral Home, Placentia on Friday, June 2nd from 11:00am - 2:00pm. Funeral Service to take place at Coombs Memorial Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Inurnment to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, St. Bride’s after the service.
