Obituary of Bernice Conway

Passed peacefully away at St Patrick’s Mercy Home, St. John’s, Bernice (Drake) Conway in her ninety-second year. Predeceased by her husband Stan, her parents Lawrence and Mary Ann (Strickland) Drake, her brothers Gus, Joe, and Phonse, her sisters Regina and Bridget, her parents in law Michael and Agnes (O’Reilly) Conway, brothers in law Joseph and Edward, sisters in law Betty Peters, Carmel Dohey, Annie Walsh, Amelia Patterson, Gladys Careen, and other members of the Drake and Conway families. Leaving to mourn her daughter Agnes Loveridge (Dale), son Larry Conway (Joyce), grandchildren Brian Loveridge (Tiffany Fifield), Emily Loveridge (Katie Bussey), Chris Conway (Christina Coady), Jeff Conway, Sean Conway (Katlyn Pike). Also leaving to mourn her sisters Theresa Dimmer (Leo, deceased), Sheila Synard (Alphonsus, deceased), Mary Rose Young (Bruce), Angela Chynn (Eric), brother Larry Drake, many other family members, and a large circle of friends. Bernice was born and raised in Allan’s Island, Lamaline and spent her adult life in St Bride’s. She was a teacher for more than thirty years and loved her work and her students. She was an active member of her parish, an avid gardener, a writer, a storyteller, and a lover of nature. Bernice was devoted to her family and was a loyal friend to many. She will be missed. Special thanks to the staff of St. Patrick’s Mercy Home for their care and compassion during her final months. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request. A mass of Christian burial will be held at the Sacred Heart Church, in St Bride’s on June 27 @ 10:30 a.m. Flowers will be gratefully accepted at her funeral or donations may be made to the Gathering Place.
