It is with great sadness that the family of James Milley formerly of Dunville, announces his passing on October 7, 2023, at the Health Sciences Complex in St. John’s, NL. He was born on December 2, 1939 at Burnt Point to John and Clarice Milley.
Jim leaves to mourn his loving partner Sylvia (Woodman); his sons: Dwayne, Dave (Wanda), Dennis (Darla), and Jimmy (Karen); his precious grandchildren: Jessica, Chloe, Renee, John, and Liam. His sisters: Elsie Mills, Lil Penney, Nell Butt, Alma (Brian) Pawis; sister-in-law Chris Milley and brother-in-law Harvey Mercer, along with many other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Maisie Milley (Reid); infant grandson Curtis Joshua Milley; brothers Don (Jessie) and Jack Milley and sisters Olive (Wesley) Whalen, Ann (Eric) Shave and Shirley Mercer.
Jim had a passion for playing the accordion and harmonica and didn’t need to be asked twice to play. He especially enjoyed his time “serving” with the Dunville Lions Club. A highlight of his involvement with the club was when he spearheaded an effort, which resulted in the Placentia Health Centre acquiring the first ultrasound for the area.
At Dad’s request cremation has been chosen. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Coombs Funeral Home, Placentia. Visitation will be held for family and friends on Thursday, October 12 from 2-4 pm. Funeral service to follow at Coombs Memorial Chapel. Interment to follow at the United Church Cemetery, Dunville.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
