It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loved one Harold McGrath of St. John's, at the Miller Center on Thursday, February 15, 2024 with his wife Maryanne of 60 years and his daughter Mercedes by his side.
Harold leaves to mourn, his wife Maryanne, daughter, Mercedes ( Rob Paquette),grandchildren, Jessica Stagg (Jeremy), grandson, Travis Lawrence, and great granddaughter, Charlotte. Sisters, Madonna, Cecilia, Mary (Andy Moriarity). Brothers, Joey(Sadie), Thomas(Donna),.John (Winnie), and Fidelis. Sisters' in Law, Lucy, Sadie Hillier (Gerald) and Susan Foley. Sister in law, Mercedes Ross (Don).. Brother in law; Cyril Murphy and numerous beloved nieces and nephews and also a number of other relatives and friends.
Harold was born in Patrick's Cove and is predeceased by his parents, John and Mary McGrath, sister Nora Manning (Len), Brothers, Michael and Gerard. Brothers' in law, Clem McGrath, Ambrose Power. Parents in law, Sylvester and Isabelle Murphy, Brothers' in law, Harold Murphy, Patrick Foley and sister in law, Nora Brennan (Jack).
Harold worked for the Iron Ore Company of Canada both in Schefferville and Labrador City starting at the age of 18, where he spent over 40 years, retiring in 1999. He had so many special friends and memories from those years. They were all dear to his heart.
We would especially like to thank our friends and neighbours who have been so good to us over the last few challenging months. A special thank you to our family doctor, Dr. Stephen Major and his staff who have been there for us during this difficult time. We would also like to thank our Community Health Care Nurse, Samantha and our workers Alex and Dustin.
Resting at Coombs Funeral Home, Placentia on Sunday, February 18 from 11:00 - 9:00 and Monday from: 10:00 - 11:30
Funeral Service to take place on Monday, February 19, 2024 at Coombs Memorial Chapel at 12:00 .
Interment to take place at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Patrick's Cove.
