It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather Leo Joseph Quilty. Leo passed peacefully away at the Placentia Health Center on Wednesday September25, 2024 at the age of 95. Leo is predeceased by his parents, William and Jane; his brothers Clarence, William, Gerald, Jeremiah; his sisters: Agnes, Mary, and Hannah. Leaving to mourn his devoted wife of 74 years, Marie. His children: Leo (Betty), Linda (Allan), Leonard (Jane), Gerard (Shirley), John (Wendy), and Bernard: his grandchildren: Danielle (Andy) Sean, Michael (Candice) Joshua (Anna Marie), Toni (Mike) Amanda, Adam (Ivy), Jeffrey, Rebecca (Isaac), Carla (Cale), Samantha (Matt) and Zachary (Jordan); great grandchildren: Tryston, Aiden, Quinn, Evy, Emma, Mary Rose, Joshua, Thomas, and Madelyn; and a large circle of family and friends. Leo was dedicated to his community and was involved in many organizations. Leo served as a Town Councillor in Dunville, the Knights of Columbus, the Dunvile Lions Club, and the Star of the Sea in Placentia. Leo worked for 20 years at the Naval Base in Argentia and afterwards owned and operated, with his wife Marie, his own bakery -L&B Bakeshop. When one considers Leo’s life, three elements stand as touchstones—his abiding faith, his love of family, and his strength of character. As a father, Leo showed strong leadership and exemplified the highest qualities of a steadfast role model to his children. A special thank you for the excellent care he received from the staff of Beachside Manor during his brief stay there. Thanks also to the doctors and nurses at the Placentia Health Care Center who attended to his needs with compassion during his final hours. Visitation will take place at Coombs Funeral Home Placentia on Friday, September 27 @ 7:00 – 9:00 pm, Saturday September 28, 2024 @ 2: 00 – 7:00 pm, and on Sunday, September 29, 2024 @ 2:00 – 5:00 pm. Mass of Christan Burial will be Monday September 30, 2024 @ 10:30 am at St. Anne’s Church, Dunville. Interment to follow in Coombs Memorial Cemetery, Southeast. Following the interment, a reception will follow at the Star of the Sea Hall in Placentia at 1:00 pm.
