Nora and family: I extend to you my sincere sympathy on the passing of Marilyn. I am sure we all share the shock and sudden loss and we can only offer you our prayers and comfort. In the midst of all the pain you share today, I am sure there is a smile in your heart as you treasure the great love and character of Marilyn. She always took time for others and indeed she shared time with her God. She was always so down to earth in her conversations and certainly she gave others the opportunity to laugh whenever she was in their company. She will be deeply missed. I offer you my prayers and I will indeed remember her at mass . May she rest in peace. God Bless Fr Wayne Dohey

To Nora and family, please accept our heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. You all must be devastated by Marilyn's sudden passing. Since Mom told me last night, I have not been able to stop thinking about all of you. You are blessed in the sense that you have so many wonderful memories of Marilyn; she was quite the character. I have very fond memories of Marilyn; memories that span from our days of playing basketball at Fatima (she had a very unique overhanded shot) to chit-chatting at the store, yours and ours,(especially when she needed red kidney beans for a last minute CHILLI) and last but not least we shared many great chats (and a few other things!!!) as students at MUN. She was a mentor and certainly did not rush off without taking the time to see how things were going, and discussing the latest from home! I can only imagine the stories you will all share over the next few days as you prepare yourselves to say goodbye; it won't be easy, but remember our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Nora and family, it is with shock and a sense of disbelief that I send you a few words as you celebrate Marilyn's life. Words can be so inadequate at a time like this but yet in a sense words are all we have. Marilyn and I were in the same grade and there is a sense of immortality that smacks home at a time like this. Another of our classmates, "Georgie's Donnie" recently left a similar mark. Anyone who knew Marilyn will fondly remember Marilyn. She was kind, giving, caring and compassionate. She asked for little as she gave of her time, energy and resources to the young and old, rich and poor alike. Everyone was the same with Marilyn....... and Marilyn was the same with everyone. For me, Marilyn was one of those life long friends where we established our friendship in school and wherever we went or whatever we done, we could pick it up where we left it off, whenever we ran into each other. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families. It's at a time like this, that those good old big Cape Shore families are important and from all of our crowd to all of "year crowd" I wish you peace and understanding as you bid farewell to "the one and only Marilyn Brennan"

I am a Foster mom and she has made many a trip to my house not only to make sure things were going good but just to chat. She was a people person but most important she didn't stop fighting for the children. We have lost a great person but the children lost their ANGEL. Her shoes will be very hard to fill for she was so dedicated to her Foster families that it will take a long time for many to heal from this lost. I not only lost a resource worker I lost a friend, someone who took the time to listen and showed she cared. Marlyn no words can express how much you meant to me and my children. Jackie and family. I know that this must be a devastating time for all of you. Speaking from losing a loved one only recently, it is comforting just to have people think about you and pray for you as we are all doing right now. I didn't know Marilyn very well but as I was reading all the remarkable condolences for her, it reminded me of a poem that is so fitting for your sister. It is called "The Dash" by author Linda Ellis. I read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend. He referred to the dates on her tombstone from the beginning...to the end. He noted that first came the date of her birth and spoke of the following date with tears, but he said what mattered most of all was the dash between those years. For that dash represents all the time that she spent alive on earth... and now only those who loved her know what that little line is worth. For it matters not, how much we own; the cars....the house...the cash. What matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash. So think about this long and hard... are there things you'd like to change? For you never know how much time is left. That can still be rearranged. If we could just slow down enough to consider what's true and real, and always try to understand the way other people feel. And be less quick to anger, and show appreciation more and love the people in our lives like we've never loved before. If we treat each other with respect, and more often wear a smile... remembering that this special dash might only last a little while. So, when your eulogy's being read with your life's actions to rehash... would you be proud of the things they say about how you spend your dash? As a family, you can be proud of how she spent her dash. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Theresa and family

To the Brennan Family. As a fellow foster care social worker, I met Marilyn about four years ago at a Foster Families Function. Her smile and sense of humour certainly graced the room, but her dedication to the children in our care and the caregivers was also shown. We met several times after, and even picketed together during a strike. Her fondness of the Cape Shore and my fondness for Placentia Bay made for many interesting conversations. When I mentioned her passing to Mom, Mom said she is Jack and Nora's daughter. Apparently as a little girl, Mom used to stop into your store when her and Dad were in St. Brides. During this difficult time, I offer you my sincere condolences to a wonderful lady whose warmth and nurturance embraced those she knew. Take Care, God Bless DeeAnn Murphy, and my mom (Doarann Murphy)
