Francis (Frank) Downey
May 9, 1946 - June 25, 2016 aged 70 years
(formerly of Colinet)
Passed peacefully away at the Placentia Health Care Center after a lengthy battle with cancer surrounded by his family.
Predeceased by his children's mother, Marie Downey, his parents Cyril and Clarice Downey, and his brothers Robert and Martin.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, his best friend and partner, Lucy Dray. His children Ruby Reid (Scott), Francis Downey (Kim), Cheyanne Thorne (Joe), and Sadie Reid (Mervin). His grandchildren Jody (Robyn), Nicholas, Cody, Tyler, Shaleen and Hillary. His great grandchildren, Landon, Tristian, Kaiden and Rayna.
Lucy's children Sharon Holley (Kevin), Wanda Dray (Ned), Jackie King (John), Shelley Dray (Tim Moore) and Cindy Dray (Mark Flynn). The grandchildren Matthew, Tricia, Hannah, Jeffrey, Paul, Alex and Brody Flynn.
Also left to mourn are his brothers and sisters, Maude and Bruce Rowe (St. John's),Verna Rosenberry (Maryland, USA), Marg Collins (Placentia), Clara and Ross Cassell (Labrador City), his twin sister Betty(Mike) (Colinet), Angela Downey (Colinet), Cyril and Louise Downey (O'Donnells), Calvin and Marie Downey (O'Donnells), Phonse and Barb Downey (Colinet) and brother Clyde (Vancouver).
Special friends Billy Murphy, Len Follett, Mike Curran, Ronnie Racine and John King. Also, a large circle of extended family and friends.
Special thanks to the nurses and staff of the Placentia Health Care Centre, Dr. Jamil and Dr. Power for the professional and compassionate care you have shown over this past week.
No flowers by request. Donations gratefully accepted in Frank's name to Ronald McDonald House or Daffodil Place.
Cremation has taken place. Will be resting at Coombs Funeral Home, Placentia on Monday, June 27 from 2-9 pm. Service will be held there at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 28. Burial to take place at a later date.
***Frank, keep the fire burning for us. There is lots of wood to cut in heaven. Now fly with the angels. Rest in peace*
