Anna and Kurt - thinking of you both upon hearing of Fred's passing. I first met Anna, Fred and Kurt in Calgary in 1977 and spent many enjoyable dinners at their house where Fred was indeed every bit the jokester. He had a quick wit and infectious laugh and the wickedest gleam in his eye you ever saw. I lost touch over the years, but thinking of him always brought a smile to my face. Pat Ennis - Saskatoon.

Fred was one-of-a-kind who always had a quick witted reply to make friends laugh. On his visits to the states to visit Anna’s relatives, he won the hearts of everyone with his smile and his ever present good humor.
When we visited Newfoundland he treated us so kindly and went out his way to make us feel at home. When my Mother, exhausted and in pain, could go no further, he helped her up the last hill to the fort overlooking Placentia to see the stunning view of the city and the arms. She was forever grateful.
It was wonderful to have known you, Fred. You have earned your rest.

Stacey, Chad, Chelsea and I send our heartfelt condolences to you and all your family on the loss of Fred. We will always remember the kindness shown to all of us by you both. Fred was a tremendous help especially after a snowfall. As the kids would be getting ready for school, Fred would be out clearing the driveway and cleaning off my car! He was always so interested in how the kids were doing and that interest was so genuine and so appreciated. R.I.P. Fred - you will be missed.

When we first moved into our neighborhood, we came home from work after the first big snowfall only to find our driveway cleared. It wasn't long after we discovered this kind man who lived across the street would spend him time helping his neighbors out by travelling house to house with his snow blower. I also remember the day he offered the use of his wheel barrow to Chris when we were moving soil to our backyard. We didn't get to know him well, but what we did know of him was very positive - kindness, generosity, and caring. Anna, if you ever need anything, we are just across the road. Sending you kindness during this difficult time.

Dear Anna and family.
We offer our condolences to you . We have so many wonderful memories of Fred, since the times from when I was a child and long after.
He was there with you to help us transition from Newfoundland to Calgary. We had so many wonderful times together. He was always kind , caring , loving and full of laughter. Always had a story to tell or a joke.
The many times we visited thru out the years was always special. We continue to think of Fred and smile. He made you feel welcome and cared about.
He is at peace now. May you all be at peace with his passing.
Love to you.

Q: What will you never forget about Fred?
A: Uncle Fred was the kindest man and the best Joke teller I ever knew.
I have a very fond memory of being at Mom and Dads house with my Mom and 6 of her closets friends. Fred was telling jokes ( more like small stories) and had all of the girls in stitches laughing, he carried on for over an hour. I don't know how he knew so many jokes, but to give him a break, I snuck downstairs and checked the internet, tried to memorize a good Newfie joke, come up to tell it to keep the giggle party going. I think Fred appreciated the help. He was so happy to be surrounded by family and friends enjoying life.
So many good times to remember with Anna and Fred in Newfoundland as well.
Rest in peace my dear uncle, thanks for being such an amazing human. Love you
Jamie Tobin
