Predeceased by parents Harvey and Emma Morgan, sister Doris, brothers Frank, Warren & also 5 infant brothers of Salmon Cove NL and in-laws Jacob and Jane Taylor of Cupids NL. Lance was born in South River, Clarks Beach on Oct. 10, 1922. After building their own home, Lance and Verna settled in Dunville where they have lived for over sixty years. Like many Newfoundlanders, Lance found work with the US Navy at Argentia, where he was a proud employee for over 31 Years. He enjoyed nothing more than to take friends and family down to the base for a night of drinking, eating and playing the slots while smuggling the occasional bottle off the base. While working full time he and Verna found time to build and operate Morgan's General Store in Dunville, which they ran as a team for over twenty years. Struggling to raise a family and keep two jobs, Lance still found time for friends and community. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge, Bay Roberts until health and mobility issues interfered with his ability to attend. He played a very active role with St. Martin's Anglican Church, Dunville helping to physically build the church as well as contributing time and resources to ensure its success. As well he was an avid hunter, sport fisherman and camper and so between work, the church and his hobbies, he formed many lifelong friendships. As a result of childhood polio Lance suffered mobility issues and at a young age he developed type 1 diabetes, however he was a fighter who never let these aliments slow him down. He lived life to the fullest, enjoying friends and family to the end and was an inspiration to all who knew him. The family would like to offer a special thank you to Linda Lake, Lance's caregiver, who went above and beyond the call of duty to make his life as comfortable as possible. Resting at Coombs Funeral Home, Placentia on Tuesday & Wednesday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9, and Thursday from 11:00 - 1:00.
