WHEN SOMEONE YOU LOVE BECOMES A MEMORY THAT MEMORY BECOMES A TREASURE. Dear members of Laura's family, You have lost a dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and as well a dear sister. And once again Fox Harbour has lost a valuable citizen. I remember her as a very attractive young lady with lovely auburn hair and beautiful clothes. She was the envy of my generation who were abit younger. She had many ups and downs in her life but she faced all in her usual graceful but practical manner. She was proud member of the choir for many years, always protesting that she couldn't sing. We appreciated her presence and her efforts contributed in no small way to the church music. I was very sorry to miss her funeral Mass because of a flu. So take comfort in the high esteem she was held and her memory will be your treasure for many years to come. Sincerely, Betty Barron

To the Duke Family; Although it's been many years, I still recall feeling like part of the family while hanging out with Donna in your kitchen (on the other side of the harbour). I remember Mrs. Laura laughing and chatting with us while sitting in her chair as Frank 'developed his recipe' for egg pancakes. We all enjoyed sampling after he had perfected them under mom's watchful eye. Mrs. Laura never seemed to mind the mess we made but would prompt us to 'clean it up' afterwards. Cherish the memories and celebrate her life. Her great attributes will live on in her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. May God grant you all peace & comfort in the present & future. Rose Littlejohn (Fahey)

Sally, Johnny and all of Laura's children: Please accept our sincere condolences on the passing of your dear mother. She raised a great crowd and was a woman of integrity and strength. I only remember her as a hard working wife and mother, always cooking and cleaning in that huge kitchen in your big house on our side of the Harbour. It was my duty to collect the "cent-a-meal" funds once a month. There was always a baby or two in the playpen. May her gentle soul rest in peace.

I feel as if I have personally known Mrs. Duke through her daughter and son, Laura and Frank. A great matriarch has passed but a part of her remains with each of you. Pass it on. Aunt Laura: Never too busy to listen and care. Her culinary skills were out of this world. Her homemade bread (delicious) helped in our gaining a few extra pounds. The meals were worth it!
